The Present Africa
The world is becoming one big society every day. As things
like social media, internet, technological and ease of transportation grow, people are
becoming more and more aware of what is happening in various places. The level
of Education in the Third Word is rising, and so is the degree of awareness.
The African Youth is educated, and is willing to apply the
knowledge and invent great things. This is a resourceful person to Africa as he is able to keep up with the fast moving technology in the world. A lot is going on in Africa, electricity has
reached more places, great trade with China, access to internet is increasing,
the level of education is rising and knowledge is increasing every day. With
all these happening around us, we can move with the speed of the world now.
Hello African man, let me move your focus to who you are as an African, and forget the trends of the world for a moment. There are qualities that have kept your
ancestors alive from generation to another. These qualities and principles have
always worked. Otherwise, our race would have been extinct by now. There is a
unique quality of an African which we should hold preciously and hand it over
to the next generation as faithful men of the past did. This has nothing to do with the direction of the trends of our current world.
You must be aware of where you are. You are in your mother
land. It is not as fancy as the internet portrays how the perfect world should
look like. It is as fancy as how our culture is. There is a lot of work to be
done. Ours is to preserve our culture as we move towards civilization as it is rampantly growing in our society. I’m sure there are
global challenges such as climate change and terrorism, but the question we
should never forget to ask ourselves is, what are the challenges that are
facing the African society?
I would like to encourage Africans to focus on the
problems facing Africa and look for ways of solving them. Have in mind that who
we are, is the precious knowledge that we should pass down to our future generation.
It may be easier to ignore the problems and wait for help from NGOs and our
Government, but, it is only us, who can shape and preserve our culture the way
we know it best. It is time for us to start solving our problems our way. We
are at a level where education is no longer the problem but preserving our
culture is.
Maybe to remind some, I have to say this. Africans
are guardians of nature, we use nature, we know how to preserve it, and we
respect nature and ensure that our practices preserves nature’s beauty. We
esteem good character and ensure that sanity of our society is kept, by
upholding good character and punishing bad behavior. We use stories and
proverbs to increase wisdom and pass knowledge to younger ones. We have unique cultural objects and fashion which we should not forget but improve them and make them relevant to our current times. We should always remember this.as we interact with the rest of the world. But the far
that we have come, we now know the importance of protecting our people and our
land. Hence moving forward, with every invention, every product that come in to
our land and out, with the education that we have, it is our duty to protect our
people and our land. However week we may seem, we must protect ourselves.
It’s time to understand where we are and apply this
knowledge, together with the knowledge that we gained in schools, for us to solve the problems in ours society. Every person needs to understand their culture
and where the world is going. Focus on the things that will better the future of your
society, like building your markets, participating in societal decision making,
invent things that are relevant to where you live, solve your problems with
local materials or regulate what comes in and out of your countries. Shape the home of your children. It is time to apply your knowledge,
be the educated that you are.
